Authentication Problem error message

iOS 9.21 (13D15)

When I swipe to update, I get a red band across the top of the app with this error message:

Authentication Problem: invalid password or expired authentication token.


I recently changed the password on that Google account; I can't find a place to change the password in GV Mobile. I've updated the password in the phone's Settings.Mail, Contacts, Calendars.[account].Account.Outgoing Mail Server.[Gmail smtp server].Password (which is the only place I can find on the phone to enter the password).

How can I solve this problem?

I'm having the same problem on my ipad mini...

This seems to be a continuing problem lately. You must delete (sign out) of the account and then add it again.
